AHHHH too many amazing things happen in one week that I need to tell you all. Ill try to give it justice. But really, never happens.
First off, Elder Melo from our district had a change to Puno. (Burr...) That morning they came to our pension to tell them goodbye, and he had his one suitcase packed to the rim, with shirts and everything falling out everywhich way. Me, being the worried sister missionary that I am, said, Elder you cant travel like that, you will loose everything on the bus ride. (Peruvian buses are a little sketch) Anywho so he started to rearrange some of the things in his suit case, and out he pulled all of the weights in his weight set. Elders :) We told him that he cant travel with a huge weight set and dumbells to Puno. He was a little bummed, but I promised they would be put to good use. Sooo yeah! Hermana Celan and I now have a wicked awesome weight set. Morning exercises just got a whole lot funner this week.
The Elders baptized a little family this week! Such a special little baptism. There isnt anything more beautiful then seeing a family dressed in white. There really isnt.
Ok so this week was jammed packed with Historia Familiar. We really had some beautiful experiences. We had a lesson with a menos active, Edgar. He is 75, retired lawyer, super witty, and likes to tell jokes. So yeah cool guy. We invited him to start his family history, and then he got really serious. He said, youre right we need to start now. When can we start, I have a list of people that need to be taken to the temple. So awesome, we called the Family History missionaries and set a cita for the next day. When we came back, he had everything ready, names, dates, pictures and all. At the end of the hour, we had sent off to be done 31 ordinaces, including his brother, and parents, who will all be sealed. We asked him if he wanted to go to take the names to the temple to do their work himself, and he looked at us and said, Seriously! We cant wait for that! It needs to be done now! So off it was sent. The spirit was so strong in that room and we prepared the names to be sent to the temple. There isnt a doubt in my mind that his brother and parents where there in that moment. Family history is so beautiful! If you arent doing it....DO IT! People are waiting.
This week Hermana Celan and I had the opportunity to teach a class about The Book of Mormon, at FSY here in Cusco. The very first one here! The youth were so excited! It really was such a privilege to spend the day with these youth. Their excitement and enthusiasm for the gospel was inspiring. We got to listen to many of them bear their testimonies of the Book of Mormon, and their desires to serve a mission. I love the Book of Mormon. Its changed my life, and I have seen it change countless others. If you havent read the Book of Mormon...Read it. And if you have ready it, share what you know with others.
Carnival starts this week...and that means war. I have already been chased down by little kids with foam and water balloons. They are pretty relentless. I have a feeling this week will be an interesting one!
Well everyone, thank you again for everything. I hope you all have a marvelous week, and keep on keeping on. Life is so good, and our Father in Heaven is so good to us. Remember the little things.
Con Amor,
Hermana Hansen
