FEB 22 2016 COME TO THE EDGE WITH ME AND FLY...ELDER HOLLAND

Well, simply put, this was one of the best weeks of my mission. And I just really couldnt be happier.  So heres a little week in wrap.

Tuesday.  Us, and the Elders traveled to Urcos to do a contacting activity with the other Elders in our District.  Finally got to see the end of our HUGE sector.  Roadtrip!

Thursday.  We had divisiones in Vista Alegre with Hermana Robinson and Hermana Minaya.  Hermana Robinson was super sick, so I stayed in with her and played doctor for the day!

Leslie is accepted a baptismal date!!  YAHOO!  She has had a hard time recieving a for sure answer.  But last night she said that she was 100% ready to go!   Also, Hno Porfilio came to the special conference with Elder Holland!  Hno Porfilio is the only non member in his family, and has been super cold with us.  He doesnt want to attend the church or get married. Just being difficult. Anywho after the conference we had a noche de hogar with their family.  We talked about how he felt during the conference.  We asked him if he knew that this was the true church...and he said yes.  Then we asked him if he would get married....and he said YES! Pure happiness.

And....ELDER HOLLAND CAME!!  I could really write a 3 page email about all the things I learned and really just how outstanding it was. But none of you want to read that and I dont want to write it.  So just know that it was absolutely perfect and more.  Saturday was the conference with the missionaries.  For the first time in 3 years the whole mission got together! Ah it was sooo great to see everyone! Everyone from my group, and my zone in Abancay!  Anywho when Elder Holland walked in, he said that he wanted to greet all of us. We were all able to shake his hand, tell him our name and where we were from.  It took everything I had inside me to not just hug him. But yeah no worries I refrained. Mostly because he had a very large body guard.  Anywho, he talked to us a little about not missing our Apostolic Moment. And its so true. This is such a priviledge, for this short time that I have, I get to serve as one of His servants.  We really have no right to waste a sinlge second of this time.  Then he read us  poem that went something like this.
' Come to the edge with me, he said.  No I will fall.  Come to the edge with me he said, No...I will fall. Again, come to the edge with me he said, so I went to the edge, and he pushed me.  And I flew.'
He said most of us dont fly because we dont go to the edge of our miracles.

Sunday we had the special conference with Elder Holland for the Inti Raymi Stake.  His talk was specifically for the youth.  He asked the youth, that just like tithing, I was 10% of your life.  From age 12 to 22, I want all your dedication, and after that you could do whatever you want with your life.  But he assured us, that if we do just that, we wont have to worry about the remainding years of our lives.  I thought about that alot.  How important those 10 years are. We truly are making decisions that will impact our eternity in those short years.  Words cannot express how grateful I am for my decision to serve a mission.  It has already changed my life, and continue to bless my life forever.

All in all, love is lovely.  The church is restored.  Our Father in Heaven loves us, and well simply put, I am just really happy.  Remember to love your Savior. And also remember, that with his love and grace we can go to the edge, and fly with Him.  I love you all!
Con Amor,
Hermana Hansen

Feb 8 2016 FEBURRAAWHHHHAAATT!

It's Feburary. February people!!  Super.  Welp, another typical, run away from dogs, wear your rain boots every day, have funny conversations with drunk people, cry every day because life is just too good, kind of week.  Gotta love it.

For P day today, the zone got together and we had ourselves a little carnival fun! Full of water balloons and foam!  It was freezing and raining...but we wont let that damper our Cusco Carnival Spirit!!!

God is preparing the hearts here in Cusco!  This week we were doing laundry for one of the members here, when a man came up to us and said, hey you're the missionaries! Yup thats us. He told us that he has been looking for us.  He explained that wayyy before he had taken the lessons and was ready to be baptized.  However some unfortunate things happened with his previous wife, they separated, he moved away, and didnt want much to do with the church.  Then he asked us, what does someone have to do to be baptized! HA! Welp just talk to the missionaries, They will help.  We vistited their family this week, darling little family. His wife is really cold with us, and stink to her guns catholic.  BUT! She is warming up to us. He has come to church these past two weeks.

We went to visit our favorite family, Familia Casa Perez.  They were not there, but their neice answered the door. Her name is Liebi and is 22 years old  Hermana Lourdez has said that Liebi has wanted to talk to us, but this was the first time that we could find her.  So we sat down and started talking...and wow. I have never met anyone so open and so prepared to listen.  We asked her what made her want to talk to us, and very sincerely said, well honestly I just want to change my life. And it sounds like you can help me.  I love this gospel so much. And I love even more that it changes lives.  People are being prepared. :)

This week we had a multi zone conference with Presidente Harbertson. We talked about repentance, how we should apply it to ourselves, and how we should teach it.  I am really starting to understand what repentance is.   Not exactlly sure how it was worded, but in this last conference Elder Uchtdorf gave a talk about finding happiness in the General Young Womens Session.  He said the key was to repent every single day.  Its so true.  Repentance is something so beautiful.  Let us make it a part of us...every single day.

4 Nephi 1:15, 16
And it came to pass that there was no contention in the land, because of the love of God which did dwell in the hearts of the people..and surely there could not be a happier people among all the people who had been created by the hand of God.

True Repentance brings True Happiness.

I love you all soooo much! Keep being amazing, and share your light with someone in need this week! Gracias por todo!

Con Amor,
Hermana Hansen

February 1 2016 FAMILY HISTOREEEEE I AM DOING IT!!!

FEB. 1 2016

AHHHH too many amazing things happen in one week that I need to tell you all. Ill try to give it justice.  But really, never happens.

First off, Elder Melo from our district had a change to Puno. (Burr...)  That morning they came to our pension to tell them goodbye, and he had his one suitcase packed to the rim, with shirts and everything falling out everywhich way.  Me, being the worried sister missionary that I am, said, Elder you cant travel like that, you will loose everything on the bus ride. (Peruvian buses are a little sketch)  Anywho so he started to rearrange some of the things in his suit case, and out he pulled all of the weights in his weight set. Elders :)  We told him that he cant travel with a huge weight set and dumbells to Puno.  He was a little bummed, but I promised they would be put to good use.  Sooo yeah! Hermana Celan and I now have a wicked awesome weight set.  Morning exercises just got a whole lot funner this week.

The Elders baptized a little family this week! Such a special little baptism.  There isnt anything more beautiful then seeing a family dressed in white.  There really isnt.
Ok so this week was jammed packed with Historia Familiar.  We really had some beautiful experiences.  We had a lesson with a menos active, Edgar.  He is 75, retired lawyer, super witty, and likes to tell jokes. So yeah cool guy.  We invited him to start his family history, and then he got really serious.  He said, youre right we need to start now.  When can we start, I have a list of people that need to be taken to the temple.  So awesome, we called the Family History missionaries and set a cita for the next day.  When we came back, he had everything ready, names, dates, pictures and all.  At the end of the hour, we had sent off to be done 31 ordinaces, including his brother, and parents, who will all be sealed.  We asked him if he wanted to go to take the names to the temple to do their work himself, and he looked at us and said,  Seriously! We cant wait for that! It needs to be done now!  So off it was sent.  The spirit was so strong in that room and we prepared the names to be sent to the temple.  There isnt a doubt in my mind that his brother and parents where there in that moment.  Family history is so beautiful! If you arent doing it....DO IT!  People are waiting.

This week Hermana Celan and I had the opportunity to teach a class about The Book of Mormon, at FSY here in Cusco.  The very first one here! The youth were so excited!  It really was such a privilege to spend the day with these youth.  Their excitement and enthusiasm for the gospel was inspiring.  We got to listen to many of them bear their testimonies of the Book of Mormon, and their desires to serve a mission.  I love the Book of Mormon.  Its changed my life, and I have seen it change countless others.  If you havent read the Book of Mormon...Read it.  And if you have ready it, share what you know with others.

Carnival starts this week...and that means war.  I have already been chased down by little kids with foam and water balloons.  They are pretty relentless.  I have a feeling this week will be an interesting one!

Well everyone, thank you again for everything.  I hope you all have a marvelous week, and keep on keeping on.  Life is so good, and our Father in Heaven is so good to us.  Remember the little things.
Con Amor,
Hermana Hansen
