Oct 26 2016 A DOWN POUR OF RAIN AND A VERY SPECIAL LESSON!!

A big HOLA to all Family and Friends!
I hope this email finds you all happy and enjoying your Monday!

This Wednesday, we went on a little (ha yeah right) hike to take some supplies to a less active family.  They live pretty far up the mountain, and the mom injured her hip a while ago, and can no (like a blanket) and delivered some rice, beans, and a few other things.  I am not going to lie, it was a pretty Peruano moment.  However, a big shout out to all the abuelitas that carry everything in their mantas everyday. Mad respect.

This week we had a really special lesson with Nataly.  We were on our way up to our house, when a huge thunderstorm rolled in out of no where.  By the time we got to her house, we were literally drenched.    Idaho rain storms didnt quite prepare me for a Peru rain storm.  Anywho, we got there and all the power was out.  So we lit a little candle and all sat around it on the floor.  She then asked us, "So really, what is a testimony?"  I dont know why but this question really took me by surprise. Really what is a testimony?  We explained that it is the things we know to be true, and its very special because its something no one can take away from you.  She started to cry and said," I really want something like that.  But this is what I think it is..."  and then continued to bear the most beautiful simple testimony I have every heard.
In 2 Nephi 31:33 it says,
"...yea, then cometh the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost, and then can ye speak with the tongues of angels."
If any of you have ever heard a recent convert bear their testimony, you know that its true, they really do speak with the tongues of angels.  This Friday, Nataly will be baptized! I cant tell you enough how special this little daughter of God is.

Yesterday we had a farewell for Lizbena, a joven in our rama.  She is leaving for her mission in Cancun Mexico!  It was weird to think that that was me about 4 months ago.  I still feel like I just hopped off the plane.  But its amazing to look back and see all the people I have met, and the things I have learned in such a short amount of time.

So a few things have been on my mind this week.  Why do bad things happen to good people?  Lately, I have seen this in the lives of my family, friends, and those I am serving in Peru.  Really this is something I see everyday.  Everyday, we go out and meet people who have trials more painful and difficult then I can imagine.  Ive watched lives being destroyed to addictions.  Ive seen families broken and torn apart because of divorce, depression, and abuse.  Ive witnessed the shattering affects of losing a loved one.  And for me, its hard not to feel absolutely helpless.  As missionaries, we can only do so much, and this is something I am learning to deal with.  We can share this message with them.  We can listen to them.  But ultimately, its the Savior who can take away their pain, and heal what is broken.  Sometimes its hard, but really in these times, all we can do is give it to our Savior.  I am really started to learn what that really means.  Because I have seen it happen. I have seen just exactly what the Atonement can  do.  I have seen in  work in the lives of those we are teaching here, and in my own life.
Alma 7:12
"...and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels, may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities."

I still dont know why bad things happen to good people. But I do know that we have a Savior, who knows every pain, perfectly.  And because of that, we can give it to him.  He will heal us, forgive us, and even at times carry us when we need it.

I love you all so much! Again, thank you all for you endless love and support.  Go out and share the message! Have a great week!
Con Amor,

Oct 19 2015 CONFÉRENCE WITH THE PRESIDENT.

OCT 19 2015
Hey Yall!
First off, here is a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHOUT OUT to the 109 birthdays that happened in the fam this week.  Happy birthday to, Jace, Paige, Shalene, Callen, Livia, and my darling Jeffrey. If you could just all stop growing while im gone that would be super duper. But if not, I hope you all had a wonderful celebration!

This week we had divisions with the Hermana Leaders.  Hermana Frame and I went to a funeral for a women that passed away in her rama.  So in Peru, I came to find out, after the service, they always carry the casket through the streets, kinda like a parade, to the other church.  I guess it is similiar to what we do when we follow all the cars to the cemetary.  But yeah, anywho, after the service,Hermana Frame and I just followed everyone out.  Next thing we know we are walking down the streets of Abancay with the funeral parade, smack dab in the middle of the band.  We didnt really know what to do, so we just went with it!  It was one of those awkward moments where everyone else is crying and sad, and youre just trying your very hardest not to laugh. One of those days where I had to smile and think, "Yeah just another day as a missionary in Peru."  It was pretty awesome.

This week was conferences with President! YAHOO!  Seriously they are always the best.  Friday we had conference with the missionaries, then Saturday and Sunday with all the Districts in Abancay. It was amazing as usual.  He talked about the "circles" that will happen because of our choice to serve.  The effects of a mission never really stop.  I am starting to see that now, in my own life, in the life of my family, and in the lives of those here.  I cant tell you enough what a privilege it is to serve my Savior every single day.  Love is what motivates us.  Make sure that we love our Savior first.

Sorry nothing really too exciting to share with you all! So here are some fun facts.
1.  Every night here is the 4th of July. I have no idea why, but there are always huge awesome fireworks going off every night.  How festive.

2. Every Peruano thinks they are a doctor. Im telling you,  paper cut, head ache, or cancer, they probably have a cure. And odds are its probably some type of tea.

3.  Everyone here thinks I am from Spain. SWEET! Yeah that is untill I start talking. That usually gives it away.  One day Ill have them convinced.

4.  Everyone here is wicked good at volley ball. Like who knew?

5.  Odds are if a kind women offers you a drink, and it tastes really bitter, theres a good chance you just drank alcohol.  Yup. Oops.  Its just so hard to turn down these cute little abuelitas.

Scripture to PONDERIZE-   Alma 5:26  "And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, if ye have experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask you, can ye feel so now?"

I hope you all know how much I love and appreciate you all! Keep doing what you are all doing! Seguir Adelante!
Con Amor,
Hermana Hansen

OCTOBER 12 2015 HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!

OCTOBER 12  2015
Happy Monday to all my wonderful, beautiful, fantastic, amazing friends and family...

Wahoo what a good week in Abancay!  This week, our sweet Rosa was baptized!  *happy dance*  #shemadeit. Also fun fact, she completed 83 years old this week!  *another happy dance*  Her baptism was so great.  Not without its complications of course. I mean, whats a baptism with some excitement?  #welcome2peru
We went to the church to get things ready.  30 minutes before, we founde out we actually couldnt have hot water for her.  Which is a problem for our sweet abuelita.  So we spent the next.....long time....filling the font by boiling little pots of water. But you better believe our little Rosa had warm water for her baptism!  It was literally one of the most tenderest moments of my life.  Watching Rosa, all dressed in white, entering the waters of baptism.  AND! She was lucky enought to have to get baptized twice! (oh gosh pobresita....) Longest 2 minutes of my life.  But all in all it was such an amazing day.  I couldnt stop thinking about how, "The worth of EVERY soul is great in the sight of God."  After her baptism she bore her testimony.  She talked about how she knew with all her heart that her Heavenly Father was proud of her. GAH! My heart.  Its true, Gods love for this sweet daugher of His was literally tangible in the room. A very special experience.
This week we had some really awesome, "make-you-wanna-be-a-missionary-for-the-rest-of-your-life" lessons this week.  We watched the "Restoration" with Nataly this week. After, we asked her how she felt.  She said that it was a feeling that she couldnt describe.  All she knew was that this was the truth.  She turned to me and asked, "Do you think that this is my answer?"   and with a big smile I said, "Yeah, I think it is."  It has been so amazing to watch the Holy Ghost work through this girl, until she finally has recieved her answer.  She asked us if she could be baptized the end of October....wait what? She asked us? Yeah. haha when does that happen!! Later that night she asked when she could serve a mission. Seriously how much cooler can you get. Thats right you cant.  Its been so fun to teach her.  There are truly people you find on the mission where you think, I really feel like I have known you before.  I feel that way every time I teach Nataly.

This week for P day we hiked up to Ampay!  As we were hiking up these little trails in the jungle, I had a "holy crap I am literally in the land of the lamanites moment."  It was a little too legit really.  Seriously so beautiful, and I am not going to lie, my pictures will never do my mission justice.  I cant get over how blessed I am to be serving in such a beautiful part of the world.

Scripture to PONDERIZE:
3 Nephi 27:27  "...Therefore, what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily, I say unto you, even as I am."

I hope you all have an amazing week! Remember the things that matter most, are the things that last the longest! Thank you all for you endless love and support!
Con Amor,
Hermana Hansen

Oct 5 2015 LIVING ON CLOUD NINE!

Buenos Buenos Dias!!!

Wow, seriously...the beeeest weeeek eeevvveerrr!!  This week we traveled to Cusco to do papers for Hermana Cooper.  Seriously so fun!  We ate american food, laughed, and just enjoyed our beautiful city of Cusco.  It was awesome to spend time with some of the other Hermanas in the mission, and get to know some of them.  Its always so fun to be in Cusco.  The travel there, on the other hand, not so fabulous.  The road out of Abancay is straight switch backs.  Which makes for some sick Hermanas.  ALSO!" I hit my 3 month mark!  WAHOOO!  I really cannot believe Ive been serving for 3 months.  Time is flying.  Makes me a wee bit nervous.

I truly hope everyone of you were able to watch General Conference!  We had ourselves a little gringo party, and all the North American missionaiies were able to watch it in English. Oh goodness it was so awesome.  I truly felt all my questions being answered.  I never really knew how much I loved General Conference!  The night before Hermana Cooper and I coudlnt even sleep we were so excited haha.  #geekymissionarymoment.  But truly, I have such a deep love for our leaders in the church.

This week we had an awesome lesson with one of our investigators, Erlinda.  She is a single mom, with the cutest little boy ever! She is very Catholic, and stands by her beliefs.  We had her friend, Hermana Sions, who is a member, accompany us.  We then continued to have one of the most powerful lessons I have ever had.  By the end of the lesson, she explained to us how right it felt, and this she knew this was the correct path.  We invited her to pray right then, to see if this truly is Church of Jesus Christ.  She then offered one of the most sincere prayers I have ever heard in my life.  There is nothing more beautiful then hearing someone, sincerely ask their Father in Heaven if these things are true.  The next day she came to General Conference!   The amount of faith she has blows me away every time we talk to her.  I just love these people so much.

I hope you all have a fantastic week! And dont forget to ponderize on your scripture for the week!!
Con Amor,
Hermana Hansen

Sept 28 2015 5 DAYS TO CONFERENCE !!!!! YAHOO

SEPT 28 2015
A Big HOLA to all of you!

Hooray! Its that time of year kids...GENERAL CONFERENCE!! Oh goodness I have never been so excited in my life. I really do not know why I didnt take advantage of Conference before the mission.  But now, we have a count down in our apartment and everything! Seriously such an amazing blessing to listen to the words of a living day prophet. What a beautiful time we are living in.  Last Saturday we were able to watch the Womens Conference! Someone once told me that if you have a question in your heart, it will be answered during conference.  How true that is.  This life was meant for happiness and joy.  And we find joy in our Savior.

This week was a little rougher.  Rosa wasnt able to be baptized this weekend, due to her health.  So hopefully all will be well with her next month. She was sooooo bummed that she couldnt be baptized.  Literally broke my heart.

This week was a week of patience.  And I have learned that when you ask Father in Heaven to help strengthen you in an aspect of you life, you better believe he is going to do so.  I have been praying and asking for an increase in patience. With myself, and the work in general.  And this week, it seemed like EVERYTHING was testing my patience.  But its true I really have learned so much.    This really is such a humbling expierence.  Everyday, I put on a plaque, representing our Savior Jesus Christ, the perfect missionary.  The beautiful thing is, that God doesnt call us and want us to be perfect.  Thats not possible.  We only have to be willing and submissive.  His missionaries arent perfect.  The members arent perfect.  But our message, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, is perfect.  So whenever I feel inadequate, or incomplete, I remember, "No, I am not perfect.  but the message I share is."   Remember that!

We have some new Elders in our area, and a new mission leader was called last week.  All of them have a TON of animo, which is so awesome.  It makes me so excited for what we can accomplish in this change.  Tamburco has a ton of potential, it just needs to good leaders and some excitement!

Anywho, I hope you ALL have the oportunity to watch General Conference this weekend! Provecho!  I love you all and thank you all for the loads of love and support to the little sister missionary in Abancay! It means the world!
Con Amor,
Hermana Hansen

we had a countdown....yeah we were a little excited

we made cookies for conference!! wahhooooo!! they were a little ghetto but
heck we are missioanries and the elders dont care haha they were just happy
there were cookies. its the little things.

i love this district so much. too many fun crazy people

My daily dose of mango.  The food here is seriously amazing and i love
that i can just eat fruit all the time.    (Hm....mango......)  for all
of you that know what that means. This is for you!

My Beautiful Abancay!

SEPT 21 2015 HERMANA COOPERS BIRTHDAY! WOOP WOOP

Buenos Dias Familia y Amigos!!!

Another week of work work work!  Last Monday we had divisiones with the Hermana Leaders.  I went with Hermana Tango and worked in the sector of Intimpas.  Hermana Tango is loooo maximooooo!! I was super scared at first, because it was going to be my first day with a Latina companion, but by the end of the day, I was spitting out spanish como una peruana pe! haha not really but she said my spanish was really good for where I am at.  Sometimes it just hard to see progress in yourself, and its always hard to not get down on yourself about your Spanish when you live in South America...but poco a poco! Also While Hermana Frame was at our house, she fixed our shower!! YAHOOO!! Haha turns out it just needed to be cleaned out a little bit...hahaha we died when we found out that that is all it was.  Now when we do have water, we can have a full pressure ice cold shower! Its the little things :)

This week was Hermana Coopers birthday! Woop woop.  The Hermana Leaders came over and surprised her with the good ol "Peruvian Happy Birthday!" Which consists of smashing eggs on your head and throwing flour at you.  Nothing says, "Hey congrats on making it another year of life!" then having some eggs smashed on you. haha I cant get over how much I love Peru.

This Friday we are going to have the baptism for our sweet sweet Rosa! Before her interview, she bore her testimony to us. It was one of the specialest of all special moments ever.  Im starting to find out that I am learning more from our investigators then they are from me.  We asked Rosa who she would like to baptize her...then with the biggest smile on her face....she turned to Hermana Cooper and I, and asked us to baptize her! Hmmm... we may have to run over the lesson about sacerdocio one more time.  But I was honored :)

We had an awesome lesson with one of our AWESOME investigators Natalie.  This week we talked to her and her brothers about what are some of their long term goals.  Each one of them mentioned something about having a strong, happy family.  They are all so sincere, and truly just want learn and grow closer to their Father in Heaven.

Some days, we literally walk up mountains all day.  Some days we have to let go of investigators who we have grown to love so much because they have the same agency that we all do.  Some days every single cita falls through, and people shut us out. But Ive never loved anything more in my life.  Its for those few small moments when people realize that they have a loving Father in Heaven, and a Savior who made it possible to return to live with him again.  Those moments make blister on my feet worth it.
Have a fantasmal week everyone!
Con Amor,
Hermana Hanse

SEPT 14 2015 I WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER FOGET TO BUY BUG SPRAY :)

SEPT 14  2015

A big HOLA to everyone!!

Phew! This was a week for sure!  We had a few Welcome to Peru moments.  I ran out of bug spray at the beginning of the week.  Note to self: never ever EVER run out of bug spray.  My ankles were swolen all week from all the bug bites.  So trying to get my shoes on was a little bit of a struggle...But I made it work! My companion and I both got sick this week, so we had a little bit of a slow week.  One night I took my pillow into the bathroom and spent the night in there reading, Our Search For Happiness,  while I lost everything that I had ever eaten ever...All a part of the expierence!  Also, Hermana Cooper got her ankle ran over by a car this week.  Shes all good, just got the back of out really skinned up...but yes all is well! When in Peru!

The work is going forth! It seems so at times, because our citas with our investigadores will be far and in between at times, but we are finding finding finding!  We found a young girl Natalie who is 17.  Its crazy, sometimes we will find people and I will think, God has prepared you for this moment! Shes way awesome, and is way stoked to learn more.  She shared some of her desires and goals for her life.  She talked about how badly she wants to just go out and serve people. Ummm heyyyy what about a mission! Its gunna happen.

Sorry this one is a little short, I am spending some more time writing some of you amazing people!  Thank you all for you love and support!  It means the world to me.  I want you all to know how much I love what I do every day.  I came out on a mission because I wanted to take 18 months and give back to my Savior.  But I am realizing every day that I will never be able to repay him.  He blesses me more then I deserve every day.  I love you all, the church is true!
Love Hermana Hansen

P.s. This kids is what happens when you run out of bug spray in Abancay.

homemade popsicles on a killer hot day in abancay! These people keep me
going with all the ffood they give me. They seriously just give you
whatever. Sooo incredibly selfless. But really that popsicle hit the spot.

sooo yeah guess what im still alergic to bananas...hahaha my companion
thought it was so funny and we couldnt even do nightly planning because
she
couldnt look at me without laughing. its kind of a problem because i eat
sooooooooooooo many bananas here. so im just way careful now haha.

This is Hermano Ramiez! He works in his chacra, so we have lots in common
with all that farming stuff. its awesome.  I showed him pictures of our
farm and he LOVED it! sooo if you could send me some pics of harvest and
tractors and stuff that would be sweet. i told him i would show him some
more.  But this made me feel right at home.

SEPTEMBER 7 2015 I HAVE BEEN KISSED ON MY MISSION! YIKES!

Hello Family and Friends!!
Ok first off before you all freak out about my title, its not anything like that haha.  So for those of you who dont know, in Peru, you greet every one with a beso, a kiss on the cheek.  As missionaries we greet all the women this way, but the men know to just shake our hands.  Annyywhooo, we ran into one of our investigators in the street and he was just so excited to see us because he had been away from work for a long time.  I put out my hand to greet him and he just pulls me right in and gives me a big kiss on the cheek.  I didnt even know what to do! I just stiffened like a board and gave an awkward laugh haha. My companion was dying.  Yup great awkward mission moments. What can ya do.

Anywho another great week in Abancay!  We had a great lesson with our little sweet Rosa.  She just wants to be baptized so badly, it kills me.  For sure at the end of this month she will be ready. She always shares her popcorn with us at every visit.  Kindness is the same in every language. Remember that!

This Saturday was just a rough day.  All of our citas were falling through, and it was just one of those days where we literally were walking all day.  It was kinda towards the end of the day, and we needed to start heading back into town before it got too dark.  We were discouraged, and ready to head in.  After walking a little ways, we had the impression that we really needed to visit one of the families in our rama, Familia Watchaka.  They live on the opposite side of where we were, but we really felt like we needed to go.  When we got there, we found their 15 year old daughter, and decided to have a chat with her.  She just seemed like something was really bothering her.  She finally opened up to us about all the things that were going on in her life.  It was terrible to hear all the things that she was going through at such a young age.  In that moment, I wanted nothing more then for her to know and feel just how much her Father in Heaven loves her.  I was reminded of all those young women lessons, lessons from my mother and sisters, about our individual worth as daughters of God.  Hermana Cooper and I were able to bear our testimonys of our the enternal love of our Heavenly Father, and the beautiful healing power of the Atonement.  I am truly so grateful that I have this knowledge in my life, and that I have the priviledge of sharing this beautiful message with those who dont.  Never take what we know for granted.

I love you all so much! Thank you again for your prayers and thoughts! And remember dont kiss the missionaries! Have a great week!
Con Amor,
Hermana Hansen

Aug 31 2015 HELLO FROM SUNNY ALBANCAY

A Big Hello from Sunny Albancay!!!
Hello everyone!! Wow another crazy, jam packed week.  I cant believe I am even here writing again. These weeks are going by so fast! Just gotta make the most of every happy, sad, painful, and exciting moment this mission has to offer.

This week, President came to Albancay and we had a conference. Oh it was so amazing.  I cant tell you enough how inspired our leaders our! We were able to have interviews with him and Hermana Harbertson.  It was so great,  I needed a good motivational talk!
Again, this week we found a ton of new investigators.  Its hard to see progress right now because almost all of our lessons were just our first lesson with them, but I can see that so many are ready and prepared to progress!  Its kind of slow, but Im really excited to watch these people grow.  Ok funny story.  One of our investigators is 84 year old Rosa. She is the teeniest tinest cutest little legit Peruvian woman.  She goes to church every sunday, and has for years. Then this week someone told us she was never baptized....What??? Shes been attending this church for how long and shes not even a member?! We had our lesson with her, and she just kept telling us that she wanted to be baptized next week. I literally died 100 times during that lesson. Too much cuteness and tenderness for me.  But yes we promised her that we would get her ready so she could finally be baptized as soon as possible...also because at her age...we really cant risk it....soo....yeah we are going to try to do that as soon as we can. haha too funny.
This week was truly full of some of the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.  We had an awesome lesson with one of our less actives, about the Restoration.  She and her husband bore their testimonies for the first time in a long time. So powerful.  Only to find her the next day making choices that will only bring her more saddness and sorrow.  My heart was so broken, but I know with the Lords help, and timing, she will be able to find that happiness that she wants.  I am so greatful for the little tender mercies that I witness every day!  Open your eyes and I promise you will find them in every moment!  Our Father is so mindful of every aspect of our lives.  I love you all and I hope you have a fantastic week! Thank you for your never ending love and support!
Con Amor

AUGUST 24 2015 HOLA EVERYONE

HOLA EVERYONE!!
This email will be a little short since I took a little time to write family this week! But all in all, another crazy, exciting week in Albancay.  For starters, bug season is upon us.  Yippee skippy!   Today I took a final count, and I have 37 bug bites on my legs...Im starting to look like a small pocks victum. Soooo now I wear bug spray for perfume! Oh the joys!  This week was a little rough, We had a lot of citas fall through, which is always frusterating, and a common problem here.  BUT! We were able to meet a ton of new awesome people and get some awesome investigadores.  Im really stoked to see where these next few weeks will take us.  One of them is 19 year old Judy Luz.  She is a little fiesty fireball.  She has lots of questions, and has a true sincere desire to do what her Father in Heaven wants her to do.  A little heart of gold.  Right now we are working with her to make goals to get married. Ugh nooooo one is married her, which makes things a little tricky, but not impossible.  Im way excited for her.
I have been thinking about my family a ton this week. First off, shout out to Shane and Elise for getting ready to tie the knot this week!! Ahh im so happy.  I have been thinking about my family and how much they all mean to me.  And the beautiful day that awaits them this weekend.  As I was sitting in the lesson with Judy Luz, I was really homesick. Thinking about the wedding and all my family.  Then I looked at Judy Luz and thought about her sincere desire to change her life and become all that her Father in Heaven knows she can be.  I pictured her in white, first getting ready for baptism, and then later, in white getting ready for the temple.  Thats why I am here. As much as I wish I could be there this weekend, there isnt anything better then helping people get ready to make those same temple convenants.  I love you all so much! Thank you all for your constant love and support.  It means the world! I hope you all have a fantastic week!
Con Amor,
Hermana Hansen

AUGUST 17 2015 TODO I DONT THINK WE ARE IN THE CCM ANYMORE

AUGUST 17  2015

Hello Family and Friends!!
AHHHHH!!! Too much excitement, and too many things to tell you all.  This email is going to be way scattered but I shall try my best to get everything out! First of all, again, I seriously love you all. Thank you for all your prayers and support these two weeks. I have felt everyone of them. So thank you.
Welp, I am currently serving in Tamburco, Albancay.  And Ill be real with everyone, theres a good chance I may never want to come home.  Sorry Mom. Albancay is so gorgeous!! I am surrounded by giant green mountains and blue skies.  Let me put a little more emphazis on the MOUNTAIN part.  The sector that I am working in mostly in the outskirts of Albancay.  So we do A LOT of walking.  And when I say we are walking up mountains to find these people, there is no stretching of the truth.  Its pretty close to a vertical hike up.  All the Hermanas say you will leave this area with legs of steal.  Darn right I better leave here with some rock hard legs! But we say, the higher up the mountain, the better the people.  Not always true, but it gives us motivation to keep walking.  These people are amazing.  I have literally never met a more humble people.  I have already fallen in love with them!  They are so grateful for every little thing.
My trainer is Hna Cooper, from Rhode Island. She is so awesome! So patient, so kind, and soooo sassy. I love it.  I have so much to learn from her and Im way stoked for whats in store for us.
We live with our pensionista and her family, and few floors up.  They are so sweet. Their kids remind me of my little neices and nephews.  They are turning into my little home away from home.
Soooo....for everyone that I talked to before my mission, knew that I was totally ready for a "shower with a bucket" kind of mission.  Well everyone, I am here to report that sometimes God gives you exactly what you ask for.  What is suuuuper scarce here, and since we live on the fourth floor, almost never.  So I have been learning the art of carrying up buckets of water, and showering out of a bucket!  Im starting to get the hang of it I think.  Lets just say there have been a few too many "Welcome to Peru" moments this week, and have made for some pretty funny moments with Hermana Cooper and I.
But I LOVE IT!  This week Hermana Cooper and I had an awesome experince of following promptings.  We were walking back, not really sure what to do because almost all of our citas fell through.  We had the impression to go visit a lady, Maritza, who lives up in the mountain a little ways away.  It was saturday night, and we dont really like to go up that high in the country because they have a lot of parties on the weekend. But we really felt like we needed to visit her.  On our way there, we ran into a borracho in the road who starting yelling and coming towards us.  Hermana Cooper and I immediatly turned around to head back when a sweet little mom with her two kids came up to us.  She said "Dont you worry about him, you walk with me and he wont bother you."  Sure enough we walked past and he started coming towards us again.  And you better believe she totally picked up a rock and gave him a piece of her mind.  Like a total boss.  He didnt bother us after that.  Anywho we talked to her, and she was soooo receptive to our message. We have an appointment with her this week.  We now refer to her as "our angel."  All in all we were able to see Maritza, and her partner which never happens because he is usually gone for months at a time.  We had an amazing lesson with them about the Restoration, and they were so excited to learn more.
Its only been a few days in the field, and I have already seen so many miracles.
Also! Sunday I gave my first talk in sacrament meeting!  Yup that was a fun news to hear Sunday morning.  Quick shout out to the CCM for making us write talks, because it totally saved me.
Well everyone, there were a lot of firsts this week. A lot of new and exciting experinces.  But I have loved every minute of it.  This is His work, and nothing will stop it from going forth.  I love you all, and I love being a missionary.  Hope you all have a fantastic week! Much Love from Albancay,
Hermana Hansen

AUGUST 5 2015 PIZZA PIZZA PIZZA! A VERY GOOD DAY!

AUG 5  2015

Dear Family and Friends!
First of all, explaination for the email title:  We asked Presedente if we could go to Papa Johns for our p-day...and he said YES!  There may or may not have been a few tears.  It was beautiful.
Yet again, another week has come and gone. Nothing too crazy or exciting to report back to you all....except for the fact that this is my last week in the CCM!!!!! AHHHH! When did this happen? I really cant believe my time here is just about up.
This week we were able to listen to a LIVE devo from the Provo MTC! It doesnt happen very often so we were super stoked. Even better, we got to listen to Elder Nelson. My love and appreciation for our prophet and the quorum of the twelve has grown so much while being here. For devotionals, we sing 'Called to Serve' as our opening hymn. It was so neat knowing that in that moment, there were missionaries in the Peru, Provo, and MTCs all over the world singing 'Called to Serve.' I cannot even begin to tell you how wonderful it is to be a missionary in this time.
I have truly loved my time here in the CCM and will hold it special forever.  I came here expecting to learn the language, and try to learn to love the large amount of rice I consume, but I did not come expecting the change that would happen within me.  In 'Our Search for Happiness' it says, 'After the spirit of Christ enters our hearts, and souls, we can never be the same.'  Its so true!  If we allow it, and embrace it, it can change us for forever.
Im sorry this email will be a little shorter, but I spent a little extra time reading emails from my wonderful support group back home.  But I just want you all to know that I LOVE this! My spanish is still outstandingly rough, and I have a lot to learn, but Im ready to put what I have learned in these past 6 weeks to use.  Im ready to go work harder then I ever have before.  Thank you all for your love and support!! Hope you all have an amazing week!! Talk to you next week from CUSCO!
Love, Hermana Hansen

JULY 29 2015 HELLO FROM SUNNY LIMA

JULY 29  2015

Hola Everyone!!
Happy dia de independecia de Peru!!  These Peruvians know how to eat when it comes to holidays. We were for sure spoiled for lunch.  Like im not sure if I can go back to American food after that.  Anywhoo this week was just a blur.
First off, sundays in the CCM are the best.  Just a spiritual high all day long.  AND we got to watch 17 Miracles and Meet the Mormons!! Best sunday evvaaa!! Last saturday we got a little taste of the mission field world.  All I know is that the spanish I heard outside the CCM, and the spanish I am learning in the CCM are not the same...But ya know its all good.  Our district went to the Lima East mission, Chiclacyo.  It was Hermana Morris, me, a lima east missionary, two latina missionaries, and a member....so really it was a small gang of missionaries.  When we knocked on a door, the rest of us would hide on the sides of the house until they let us in.  Then we bamboozled them with all of us haha. Kinda funny.  The first door we knocked on was a little Peruvian grandma (my corazon just cant handle them. too cute.) who was less active.  She looked like she had been crying and just sad.  We asked her how her day was and she just started to cry.  She then continued to tell us about her daughter who just passed away about 3 months ago, leaving behind a small family that was now living with her.  My heart literally shattered.  I sat there and listened to her story and how much pain she was feeling.  I wanted more  then anything to have her feel peace and comfort.  It was so frusterating not being able to talk and tell her my testimony of eternal families the way I wanted to.  But I mustered up what little spanish I could and
bore a little testimoney of what I knew.  I have a testimony of the power of the holy ghost.  If we try, exercise a little faith, and open our mouths, the spirit will be there.
Thank you all again for you love and suppport! I feel it all the way over here in Peru.  I love you all, and I love being a missionary.  Have a fantastic week!
Love, Hermana Hansen
