JULY 11 2016 ABANCAYCITO!!!!

JULY 11 2016

Well, another week in this crazy, amazing, life of a missionary.  Once again, so little time, and so much to tell. So heres a random wrap of of the week.

1.  We found 3 amazing little families this week.  God truly led us to them.  I love teaching families, and picturing them all dressed in white entering the temple.  Thats why we are here people!  Honestly, we were very very blessed to find them.  All of them we found by contacting , while we were looking for other people. God works in amazing ways.

2. Halls, (like the cough drops) are candy here.  I think I may have already told you all that. But it still weirds me out by how much they love them here.

3. We had a lovely little lesson with Hermanita Julia.  Shes one of the oldest members of the rama here.  She can BARELY see anything. And she makes it to church every Sunday.  "Nunca dejare a asistir."  Its these little people everyday that remind me who the real heros are.

4. Friday we traveled to Urumbamba to visit the hermanas there. Its about a 6 hour bus ride. And  its a for sure deal, that I will always learn more from them, then I will every teach them.  Im grateful that Father in Heaven answers my prayers through little things that people say.  Also, I thought I had conquered the dealthy trip to Abancay...I was wrong.  Threw up the whole way.  Part of the experience they tell me.

5.  I lost my bag in the bus coming home from Abancay. However, thanks to a lot of prayers, and one persistant (and kinda scary) companion, we were able to talk to literally everyone who worked in that bus station, and finally convince someone to help us.  And we found it with everything intact!  Tender Mercies.  Also...thanks to the very nice taxi man who drove us back to the bus station.  While I was having a mental break down/panic attack, he just kept saying, "Dont worry! I know you will find it! You are people of God, He will help you find it!"  Thank you small peruvian taxi man.

6. Yesterday, we had an AMAZING noche de hogar. about 25 people were all able to squeeze into this little house, and my companion and I cooked Columbian food all night.  I love these people so much.

7.  Also, my new food obsession is sugar cane.  They little bags of it in the street. Another reason to love Peru.

This week I was reading in Mattew.  In chapter 4, vs, 1 it says, "Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil."  And below in the footnotes it says, "...was led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be with God."  This really made me ponder of what that really means.  But I know this to be true.  That our trials, our weaknesses, our temptations, our failures...if we choose, will lead us to our Father in Heaven.  I have seen this time and time again in my life in the mission, as well as those we are teaching.  Every trial is a chance to come to know God.  And wtih that, our trials will increase our compassion for others.

Sorry I have been major slacking on the birthday shout outs.  But just know that I love you all very much.  Also, welcome to the family Brielle!  I cant wait to meet that darling little girl.  I hope you are all enjoying this summer fun!  Have a fabulous week! Sending lots of love from my Abancaycito.
Con Amor,
